TORONTO CENTRAL SOCCER LEAGUE PLAY OFFS
Toronto, September 16, 20111.- In a very cold evening to play soccer, Toronto Flames defetead last night the Top Team from Eglinton Flats TSCL Series, She Devils, on a electrifying penalty-kick definition, after a 1-1 tie in regulation time.
Captain Lisa's white shirt/blue pants team, was completely dominated the first half, with She-Devils start midfielder # 23 and striker # 7 having the ball at their pleasure. It took an own goal from The Flames for the visiting team to have the 1-0 partial during this period (something that Flames players said it has happened to them in other finals too).
In between the period, Captain Lisa did her motivational straight talk and told all the players to have one player from the other team all the time and play pressing football. And then, Sarah, Madison, Charlotte, Kelly, Tanya, Judy, Julietta, and Laura, and the rest of the team did not allow She-Devils to play easily, all the divided balls were for the white and blue female footballers and the 1-1 came close to the end, with Charlotte scoring the goal after a reboudn in her first shot to goal.
In the penalty kick, Toronto Flames FC goalkeeper Alex was the heroe, saving two shots on goals, while Kelly and another player closed the game 2-0 in PKs. Now, they will play the winner of the other semifinals, played last night at Eglinton Flats between home team Phoenix and Earlscourt series, Thunder.
Also at Earlscourt Park soccer field, Ballers made it to the Consolation Cup game with a 7-0 over Bulldogs, bith teams started with 7 and 8 players, respectively, and later more footballers came to have an entertainment game. Unfortunately for Bulldogs, one of their best players, Danielle Wedge, has been playing injured the whole season (both ankles), so she could not be of help for David, Di Vincenzo, Seng and all her team, who always play with a lot of enthusiasm.
The great upset of the previos Thursday September 8, was the defeat of Earlscourt regular tournament leader Genesis FC, that lost 1-0 in penalty kick to Eglinton Flats league team Phoenix. Genesis was the team that won more points (37) in both tournamente series (against 34 of She-Devils). Now Toronto Flames and Thunder are the teams representing the Earlscourt championship in semifinals played this Thursday September 15.
Phoenix met Thunder at 8:00 PM, Eglinton Flats field.
Toronto Flames will play the winner of the above-mentioned semifinasl will play the final match for the championship title on September 22, at 8:00 PM, at Eglinton Flats (according to master schedule).
