TCSL 2012: Two goals by Krystin Bacon and outstanding play by MVP Farah, MAJESTIC RECS again sharing the top place with Genesis FC at Toronto Central Women Soccer League

TCSL 2012: Two goals by Krystin Bacon and outstanding play by MVP Farah, MAJESTIC RECS again sharing the top place with Genesis FC at Toronto Central Women Soccer League. Both teams have now 19 points and next week, on Thursday July 19, they will compete with the ones at the middle and bottom of the TCSL standings.

At Earlscourt South soccer field, Genesis will play Bulldogs (3 points)  at 8 PM, team that was defeated yesterday 1-0 by Thunder. Majestic will have as its rival, Thunder FC (8 points now), at 9:30 p.m. The other game will have Ballers (third place with 11 points now, after defeating leader Genesis 2-1 in an amazing upset last night) vs Ravens (7 points, one game less), team that will play also a suspended match again Bulldogs on Tuedsay July 17 at night, and have shown great skills and very difficult to defeat.

Thursday July 12 MATCHES REVIEW

Thunder 1 - Bulldogs 0

The extreme heat didn't allow to both teams's players to display a better game. Even usually very fast strikers such as Michelle Liu in Thunder and Karen Cross in Bulldogs, were not able to show the best of their game. The match was decided in a free kick in the second half that escaped the Bulldogs goalkeeper hands. A supposed secodmn goal was disallowed because an attacking player took the ball with her hands before the ball passed the goal line.

Genesis 1 - Ballers 2

The Celtics Glasgow-dressed ladies did a tremendous upset last night, with a couple of players nursing ankle sprains, knee and hand injuries. Genesis FC, the absolute leader of the Toronto Central Women's Soccer League for two years in a row, opened the score by a goal by midfielder Alora Walcott. Carol Knibbe, Jaime, Tara and the whole team were playing fast, but the girls of Ballers are tough too and they did not give us. They have a couple of new players in midfield (Kerby) and attack and it showed when at 44 minutes in the firts half, they were able to tie in a goal by Yvonne, after a great pass by Kerby.

Just starting the secodn half,46 minutes, Jenn escaped in a fast run and scored the 2-1. Defender Makela stood right as sweeper even with her left ankle sprained and Veronica did an amazing job stopping the run of Walcott and Knibbe. Meg, Angela, Rebecca, Kyra, Jessy, Kelly and the whole team worked hard for this great result. Goalkeeper Emily was the player of the match with great savings right on the line of goal.

Genesis delayed to have the fastest players into the game in the second half thinking they would be able to tie and win the game. But the closed defense and tough midfield, added the counter-attack by the strikers, make that Genesis lose not only the game, but the invictus series. This is their first defeat of the 2012 summer season.

Majestic Recs FC 3 - Ravens  2

Two teams with different styles but similar passion. Ravens have great midfielders, fast, technical and tough, and a powerful attack by Sandy, Romi and Jill, consolidated by a strong defense led by Laura, Meredith and Dora. Kelly, Caroline, and Carly also add to the mix.

Majestic FC is a very technical team, with at least four of its players with the top skills in the league and Toronto (creative midfielder Joda and attacking MF Farah), forwards Krysting Bacon, Nicole and Cindy. They are always able to move the ball smoothly and create spaces for either Nicole or Bacon to score.

Yesterday, it was Nicole, # 22, who escaped very fast and scored the 1-0 in the first 15 minutes. Then, the game went very disorganized, with Bacon marked so close and not being able to show her usual explosive speed. Then, she moved in the midfield but only when she went forward by the left, she was able to capitalize the team's technical skills. She scored twice with almost carbon copy's goals: run by Farah by the left after a series of wall passes, and when # 10 farah could score, she saw Krystin Bacon alone in the penalty point and passed so she scored for a 3-0 partial.

Ravens came back, score 3-1 by a penalty shot by fault over Romi, she shot the penalty kick and scored. And almost in the last minutes, great player Jill, # 21, put the final 3-2.
