CSA 2012 All Stars: Ontario plays spoiler in U-15 Girls final

The marquee match of the day did not disappoint as both Ontario and Québec came out with one goal in mind, to leave with gold medals around their neck.
Québec came into the Gold Medal game undefeated and was the favorite against an Ontario side that was 1-1-1 through group play.
The Québec side came out attacking strong, but Ontario was quick to counter when Martina Loncar put one past a sprawling Québec keeper.
The goal would hold until half and put Ontario ahead 1-0 going into the break.
Ontario came out hard in the second half and it only took them two minutes to add to their lead. Loncar chipped her second of the game just over the keeper, finishing a Sura Yekka cross.
Ontario’s Emily Borgmann solidified herself as the winner of the Golden Boot Award scoring her fourth of the tournament in the 55th minute and locking up the game for Ontario.
The Québec side was able to get one back on an own goal in the 70th minute.
Unfortunately, it was just too little too late as Ontario showed some superb defending as they easily protected their lead and went on to take the Championship game with a 3:1 final score.
The battle for bronze saw Alberta take on British Columbia. British Columbia locked the game up early scoring three goals in the first half.
Monpreet Heer got the first with a burst of speed that beat the defender and sent her in alone with only Alberta’s keeper to beat.
Their second came in the 24th minute when Rachel Jones gathered a loose ball and tucked it past a scrambling Alberta keeper.
British Columbia’s third was put in by Heer, her second of the game, a wonderful deflection off an Addy Townsend shot.
Ashleah McDonald, British Columbia’s keeper received the clean sheet in the 3:0 victory.
The 5th place game saw Team Atlantic face Team Manitoba/Saskatchewan. Team Atlantic came out strong and wanting to prove that their convincing crossover win against Team Manitoba/Saskatchewan on Tuesday wasn’t a fluke − and they did just that with a 3:0 victory.
Team Atlantic’s first goal in the 12th minute came from a fantastic Hannah Fleet header off a corner kick.
Emily Fleming launched a beautiful strike into the top corner from just inside the 18 yard box, for Team Atlantic’s second goal.
Their third goal and final goal came in the 56th minute as Brenna Kettlewell received a perfect feed down the wing from Emily Fleming and put it past Team Manitoba/Saskatchewan’s keeper.
