TORONTO CENTRAL WOMEN'S SOCCER: Genesis won 1-0 in a tough game with Ravens; Majestic defeated Bulldogs 3-0; Ballers and Thunder tied 1-1.
Next week, Ravens has the opportunity to move to third place if they win Bulldogs in a pending game (it was suspended on June 21 due to heavy rain and wind, when Toronto was in a tornado alert. They will play on Wednesday night at the Earlscourt South).
Yesterday, the black uniform team Ravens showed great skills to stop the undefeated leader Genesis FC that scored only through a penalty shot by Alora Walcott, after GK Laura could control the ball and a Ravens' defender got with her hands. She got red card and The Red Genesis could celebrate, but the second half was fought in a great skill and physical manner. One of the greatest game of the season, with Jamie, Shay, Alora, Holly, Tara and the rest of the Red players getting maximum effort to deserve the victory.
In the third match, Majestic had to work hard to deserve the final 3-0. No. 22 Nicole scored twice and # 91 Cindy got the other goal. Krystin Bacon had a lot of opportunities, but she was unlucky this Thursday and could not mark even one, however she showed her amazing soccer skills and tremendous speed. Danielle Wedge, Nancy, Alicia, Carla, Rachel, Rose and Jenn, worked hard in the second half, and Majestic could not score a single goal. Everything was set in the first half, when Bulldogs were playing without their regular GK Jossie. Still, the rival Majestic put a great skilful game with Farah, Cindy, Bacon, Liz, Nicole, Nadia, Pina and Celia, Melissa the GK worked hard too, especially when striker Nancy run fast to her net.
In the opening game, Ballers was winning 1-0 very fairly, however Thunder, the team of the two Michelle and Julie, pressured until they tied 1-1. The Celtic t-shirt team is a young one, and with a coach at their side they would be able to mantain the calm and make the subsitituion needed as well as play with a regular style and formation.
