Hamilton doubled the advantage only three minutes later when he earned a free kick – and then subsequently headed home a lofted cross from the set piece into the top corner past a diving William Diaz in goal for BC.
The British Columbians rallied late in an attempt to cut the deficit and came very close to pulling a goal back but Kyle Sohi’s effort smashed off the under-side of the cross-bar in the dying minutes of the match.

“I’m really happy with the performance,” said Ontario U-16 Head Coach Patrick Tobo after the final whistle. “At the same time these young players need to continue to improve if they are going to be successful at the national level.
“We have lots of work to do. The players need to stay in the right environment; they need to continue to practice. At the age of 16, they are still learning and they need to follow the right path to the next level.”
British Columbia Head Coach Scott Howey was disappointed to see his young side suffer a defeat in the final, but he is urging his players to overcome the tough loss as they continue to pursue their footballing careers.
“The biggest thing is that our players can’t be weighed down by this result,” said Howey after the match. “It’s all about learning and continuing to improve.”
