Ontario Tops Medal Count at 2013 National Club Championships

VAUGHAN, October 17, 2013 – The teams from Ontario took top honours at the 2013 Sport Chek National Club Championships, capturing the highest gold medal count with three, and winning the most medals overall with six. The tournament took place in four provinces and culminated in the final day of competition on Thanksgiving Monday.
Ontario’s success on the podium was truly a provincial effort, with the six team medals coming from five different District Associations. Gloucester Celtic brought home the Challenge Trophy in the Men’s division, the first Ontario champions in this division since 2006. The Challenge Trophy is one of the oldest soccer competitions in Canada, dating back to 1913. Brams United Bandits won gold in the Under 16 Girls division, as did Kitchener Spirit for the Under 14 Girls. Ontario’s only silver medal of the competition was awarded to the Under 16 Boys squad, Vaughan Azzurri. The two bronze medals went to Mississauga Falcons in the Under 18 Boys division, and the North London Elite in the U14 Boys division.
The results of the National Club Championships for all of Ontario's teams are listed below:
