CANADA 2014 U-20 FIFA WOMEN'S WORLD CUP: Korea Republic, Korea DPR and China PR qualify for Canada 2014

TrThree more teams have qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014, which means that half the field has now been booked for the 16-team biennial competition. The three teams – Korea Republic, Korea DPR and China PR – all qualified through the AFC Women’s Under-19 Championship in China PR.
China PR, Korea DPR and Korea Republic join England, Finland, France, Germany and host Canada as the first eight teams to qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014. Still to qualify, there will be two teams from Africa, one from Oceania, two from CONMEBOL, and three more from CONCACAF.
The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 takes place next 5-24 August in Edmonton, Toronto, Montréal and Moncton. This will mark the seventh edition of the biennial competition.

FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 update from Edmonton
In advance of the Canada-Korea Republic Women’s International Friendly match in Edmonton next week, the National Organising Committee for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 will address local and national media on Monday 28 October.
The media opportunity will outline the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 ticketing launch in the coming month. As part of the media opportunity, former U-20 all-stars Eric McLeod, Carmelina Moscato and Christine Sinclair will be on hand to talk about their experiences at the inaugural FIFA women’s youth competition 11 years earlier.

Canada 2015 Qualifiers continue in Europe
FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 Qualifiers will resume in Europe this weekend as 42 nations continue their journey to the world’s most important women’s soccer tournament. The European nations are split into seven groups, with all seven group winners earning an automatic berth while four group runners up advance to a continental playoff in November 2014.

The Qualifiers resume on Saturday 26 October, with 26 of the 42 nations involved in 13 matches. There are two more matches on Sunday, seven matches on Wednesday, and 12 more matches on Hallowe’en Thursday. All 42 remaining European nations will play one or two matches in late October.

Canada 2014 Qualifiers continue in CONCACAF

While FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 Qualifiers concluded in Asia, they continue in CONCACAF where Caribbean teams compete at the CFU Women’s Under-20 Tournament in Jamaica. From eight Caribbean teams competing in this round, two will advance to the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship in Cayman Islands in January 2014.
From the final CONCACAF competition, three teams will qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014, joining host Canada in the 16-team tournament.

In Jamaica, group play concluded on Wednesday 23 October in advance of the penultimate semi-final matches on Friday 25 October. Trinidad and Tobago (first place in Group A) will face Dominican Republic while Jamaica (first place in Group B) will face Cuba. Winners of the 25 October semi-final matches will advance to the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship.

CONCACAF Sports Summit in Cayman Islands

Victor Montagliani, President of the Canadian Soccer Association and Chairman for the National Organising Committee of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 and FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014, attended the CONCACAF Sports Summit this week in Cayman Islands.
Mr. Montagliani provided an update on both FIFA competitions that are coming to Canada, two of the three FIFA women’s tournaments that will be hosted by CONCACAF nations in 2014 and 2015 (along with the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2014).
Attending the CONCACAF Sports Summit were ministers of sport and representatives of CONCACAF’s 41 member associations.

Canada 2015 appointments at CONCACAF events

The Canadian Soccer Association, through the generous support of CONCACAF, has helped land appointments for FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 Venue General Managers Rita Rogers (Vancouver) and Chad Falk (Winnipeg). Both Ms. Rogers and Mr. Falk will participate in the CONCACAF Observers Programme at upcoming CONCACAF international events.
Ms. Rogers will serve at the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship in Jamaica from 30 October to 9 November. That competition qualifies two teams for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2014.
Mr. Falk will serve at the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship in Cayman Islands from 9-19 January 2014. That competition qualifies three teams for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014.

FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015
The FIFA Women's World Cup is held every four years, with the next edition to be played in Canada in 2015. It marks the first major sporting event hosted in Canada from coast to coast, with matches to be played in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montréal and Moncton. The FIFA Women's World Cup will feature the 24 best women's football teams in the world.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 will be preceded one year earlier by the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, one of two FIFA women’s youth tournaments. The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup returns to Canada for the first time since 2002. The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Canada 2014 will feature 16 teams featuring players born 1994 or later.
The National Organising Committee for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 features Victor Montagliani (chair), Steven Reed, Janine Helland, Doug Redmond, Clare Rustad, Walter Sieber and Peter Montopoli.
