Three teams have advanced through Asia's preliminary round of FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 Qualifiers. Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar have all passed to the next round in 2014 while nine teams have been eliminated from a trip to Canada in two years time.
Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar will join Australia, China PR, Korea Republic and Japan in Asia's final round of FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 Qualifiers in May 2014. One other team will join the final round of eight teams, be it Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon or Uzbekistan through a qualifying stage from 5-9 June in Amman, Jordan.
Already this year, 13 teams have been eliminated from FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 Qualifiers in Europe and Asia. Just last month, Lithuania, Georgia, Luxembourg and Latvia were all eliminated in Europe's preliminary phase of Qualifiers.
This month, Bangladesh, Iran, Philippines, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, Chinese Taipei, India, and Palestine have all been eliminated. Three more teams will be eliminated from 5-9 June in Jordan.

CONCACAF heavyweights ready for 2 June

CONCACAF neighbours Canada and USA will renew acquaintances on 2 June 2013 in a Women's International Friendly match in Toronto. The sold-out match will be broadcast live in Canada on Sportsnet and in USA on ESPN. This will mark the first match between the two sides since the semi-final clash at the London 2012 Olympic Tournament.
“This has been a development year (for Canada) thus far,” said coach John Herdman ahead of the match. “In the last eight or nine games, we have given a lot of opportunities to new players – but now this is a time to face in the world's number one (USA).
“We are focusing on our performance and producing a personal best. And hopefully if we do that – it might give us as win.”
Said USA coach Tom Seramanni, "“I know our players are really looking forward to the match and to the crowd, but also to getting back together as a national team and continuing to evolve in a positive direction.”

63rd FIFA Congress extolling universal values

The opening ceremony of the 63rd FIFA Congress took place on Thursday at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre (SVICC) in Port Louis, with the FIFA President and the Prime Minister of Mauritius among those attending.
The event put the accent firmly on tolerance and universal values, which are reflected in the lyrics of the song that Linzy Bacbotte has composed especially for the occasion: “Let’s share love and live in unity / We are here to celebrate the world / Let’s sing for freedom and the sun that brings a smile to our faces.”
Under the watchful eye of ceremony compère Carol Tshabalala, the Congress opened with a speech by FIFA President Joseph President S. Blatter, who said: “Our Congress is our annual opportunity for all of us, all members of our great organisation, to meet. To work, of course, and take important decisions for the future of FIFA.
"But also to exchange, to update each other, to enjoy being together, to socialise. In short, to share the same passion we all have for the world’s most popular sport as a community.
"Mauritius symbolizes a key part of what FIFA stands for: developing the game, especially for the youth, and, through the sport, helping the youth enjoy a healthy life and providing them with a range of life-skills that they will use long into adulthood too."

The Congress itself takes place on Friday and will be followed by a press conference. The day’s events will be streamed live at FIFA.com, with coverage starting at 9:30 local time (13.30 ET / 10.30 PT).
