Toronto Eagles, Girls U-17
TORONTO, May 29, 2012.- While her counterpart Boys U-17 lost 14-1 against Ajax, amazing FW Soraya El-Houni led Toronto Eagles (now SC Toronto) to a very tight 2-0 win over Aurora YSC at Earlscourt Soccer field turf. Speed and technique are the mark for # 17 of the yellow & blue and she was able to make the counterattack lethal.
In the first half, Alesia Arbitrio (6), running by the left attacking line, opened the score when the white and blues of Aurora where dominating the game with a fast attack and midfield formed by Rhea, Laurence and Emma (this one, a tall left kicker is a player to watch, because well trained and guided could make it to a regional or national team).
However, the Eagles got control of midfield through Metaxas (great technique, no seems fast, but all the divided ball are a great feast for her, go with everything to get them), Rachel Ryner and Muraca, who is a defender but was fighting in the middle too.
De Vitto and Mancini had a tough defending time against Rhea and Laurence, but both were very strong and did not allow them to go further, except long passes. In the second half, El-Houni make a run leaving behind Stephanie, Cristine and Liane, to score a great chip goal over the Aurora GK. Then, AYSC took control of the game and even scored a goal by Rhea (another player to watch), but the linesman believed was offside and was disallowed.
Eagles tried to run by fast Martin and El-Houni again, but this time the defense and midfielders of Aurora were tough. Soraya El-Houni is really a player to look in the long term. Apparently, because her short space ball skills, she doesn't seems fast, but running together with the rival defenders, she is always first. I have seen her since last year and if she matures as a player, as I think she would, I would call her to TEAM CANADA to participate in the AMF Women's Futsal Cup in Colombia, April 2013, and in the Confederation Cup, together with other relatively young and fast soccer and futsal players, Laura and Shay, from Genesis FC, of Toronto.
El-Houni has the same technique and way of playing of other great Canadian and Torontonian players, such as MVP of the Year at the Toronto's high school, Soraia Lavadera, Etobicoke Lightning's Martha Hall (national champion), Toronto Blue Devils's Amelie Messier, Brandi Boulet, and Jennifer Imrie, Toronto Flames's and University of Ottawa, Madison Ala, or Monika Cordero-Flores, of OYSL. To see all of them in the same national team would great sport dream.
