Get into Futsal Passion!
TORONTO, August 3, 2012. – Daniel Cerros, president of The Canadian Futsalon Association (FUTSALCA), was elected to the World Futsal Association (AMF)’s Board of Directors for the next four years (2012-2016), after releasing its 2011 – 2012 Annual Report, stating all the amazing growth of this ball sport and futsal development in Canada, which is one of the best in all North American, Central America and The Caribbean region.
The Canadian top officer and director of CONCAFUTSAL international board participated actively at the World Futsal Association’s (AMF) World Congress, held in Asuncion, Paraguay last weekend and – as a great reward for Canadian Futsal Development - Daniel Cerros, of Canada’s FUTSALCA, has gotten the privilege of being a new member of the Board, John Rolando Alarcón Rios was reelected as president of the AMF
Paraguayan leader Juan Rolando Alarcón Rios was unanimously re-elected as president of the World Futsal Association (AMF), a former FIFUSA (International Federation of Futsal), in the course of an Ordinary Congress of the entity.
The Congress took place in the Paraguayan capital city of Asuncion. Alarcón Rios was proposed by the Argentinean Confederation of Futsal (CAFS) and the opposition did not receive the full support of the congressmen present at the Hakaranda Residence.
Alarcón Rios will be World Futsal Association Chair for four more years (2012/2016). AMF is the highest body of indoor soccer games, which was reactivated in December 2002 before the demise of the former Spanish FIFUSA presiding Alberto Pool (now deceased).
The European Union of Futsal (UEFS), led by Russian Valeri Ahkumyan absent in Congress due to personal reasons, proposed by written communication for president Manuel Sanchez, the Colombian ruling chair, but he said – categorically- that there was not in his mind to accept the proposal made by the Europeans to succeed Alarcón Rios in office, and therefore declined his candidacy by loud outcry in Congress, a fact that was applauded by those all present at the Congress. The decision to reelect the Paraguayan leader was unanimous, with arms raised.
The main office of the new Executive Committee of the AMF’s is as follow:
- Juan Rolando Alarcón Rios (Paraguay) as president
- Jaime Arroyave (Colombia),
- Namdev Shirgaonkar Sampat (India),
- Nakwalekwenale Doli (DRC),
- Antonio Cifuentes (Australia) and Eduardo Jordi (Spain, Catalonia) as vice-presidents;
- Peter Bonnettini (Argentina) as general secretary,
- Alberto Agüero (Paraguay) as treasurer,
- Mario Giménez (Uruguay) and John Probao (Spain, Galicia) as directors
- Gina Anjos (Brazil ) as deputy director,
- Gabriel Delmonte (Uruguay) as receiver trustee holder;
- Daniel Cerros (Canada) as trustee and deputy director
- Manuel Sánchez (Colombia) as corporate executive officer (CEO).
Later during 2012, other international members will be appointed to serve on the leadership of the various AMF’s committees.
The Congress was attended by representatives of Paraguay (July Notary, Carlos Martinez and Fabio Buffa), Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Chile, Spain (Catalonia and Galicia), Italy, USA, Mexico, Democratic Republic of Congo, India and Australia, all of them representing their countries and other almost 100 member countries and international federation from five continents.
Eduardo Catalan Jordi was elected as a vice president in place of Russian Valeri Ahkumyan. Jordi will be responsible for a further development in the European and worldwide futsal environment, trying to bring to AMF other countries such as Singapore, Cyprus, and Andorra.
Also Nakwalekwenale Doli, of Congo, will be responsible for the goal of bringing together some other African countries that are interested in joining the family of the AMF family, including Morocco, Libya, Mali, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Angola and Senegal.
CANADA FUTSALON FEDERATION ANNUAL REPORT 2011-2012
Among the more important FUTSALCA’s highlights 2011 – 2012 Annual Report, it is the recognition by the Federal Government of Canada of its status as a national non-profit organization to rule the sports in all the country’s provinces and territories. Also, the organization of a new version of the AMF Canadian Futsal Cup 2012 (April 14 & 15) determined Nerio Valdez Futsal Club as the National Club Champions, qualifying the Adult Men’s team winner to represent Canada in international tournaments for the calendar year. The Under 21 team winner was International FC.
The AMF Canadian Futsal Cup 2012 was held at the Main Futsal Centre in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and FUTSALCA called to all the provincial and local associations and futsal leagues to participate with their best teams. The National Canadian Futsal Cup had the participation of provincial champions and runner-up clubs from Alberta (Calgary), Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), Ontario (Toronto, Scarborough GTA, Mississauga), and Québec (Montreal). In 2013, the National Championships will be held in Calgary, Alberta, and already the organizers have secured a large corporate sponsorship to bring all the provinces.
FUTSALCA has grown from a small league with 20 teams in Toronto (now 150 plus in the Toronto Area only) to a federation with national presence, provincial and regional member associations. The Federation has also developed a complete Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities Plan from the futsal hall to print media, radio, television and online broadcasting, websites and mobile applications, to attract the right sponsors for the development of the sport in Canada, having in mind the organization of a Youth Futsal World Cup in Ontario.
Canada has already invited and confirmed our country participation in the following international tournaments and Futsal World Cup:
- Pre AMF Women’s Futsal World Cup Tournament, November 2012, in Venezuela
- II AMF Women’s Futsal World Cup, April 2013, in Colombia
- World Games, July 2013, Colombia, Men’s National Teams
- II Youth World Cup (Under 14 National Teams), in United States
Canada will organize a great international tournament next April 2013 in Toronto, having already confirmed the presence of Colombia – the current Men’s World Champion -, Argentina and Uruguay, plus the current TEAM CANADA in the Men’s category.
The Canadian Futsalon Federation has developed a Long-Term Business Plan (2011 – 2015), which includes the creation of a FUTSAL PRO-NATIONWIDE futsal league, attracting top franchising clubs from Ontario (Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, Oakville, Richmond Hill, Woodbridge, and ethnic communities), Alberta (Calgary, Edmonton), Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, Regina), Quebec (Montreal). This professional league will launch on the first quarter of 2013 with three conference and divisions (West, Central, East), with the franchise structure of all major sports in North America. Parallel to this Men’s Futsal Development, FUTSALCA is working hard for WOMEN’S FUTSAL LEAGUE AND DEVELOPMENT, targeting to bring the best of Canadian talent to the next AMF Women’s Futsal World Cup, to be held in Colombia, on April 2013.
FUTSALCA’s Head of Futsal Development and Women’s Team Canada Coach, Juan Carlos Cordero, and National Head Coach and Technical Director, Jaime Meza, are also working to establish the sports at University / College level and with another Pilot Futsal Program with community sports and fitness organizations, as well the boards of education. FUTSALCA will team with Cyberclassroomtv Global Online Education Project to develop its FUTSAL Official Licensing Program at all level (refereeing, coaching, managing staff, player development). To reach the most distant places in the country (near the Arctic Pole) to worldwide futsal audience, the AMF Futsal Curriculum could accessed online and also with presencial courses and classes in the main Canadian cities (Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, Saskatoon).
Daniel Cerros created the first Futsal Newscast on Web Television, with a dedicated channel on You Tube, hosted by Lillian Guilombo and Juan Carlos Cordero. The recording of the main local, regional, national and international games are made available to the interested parties in DVD format and when Canada is participating in international tournament, FUTSALCA broadcasts all its games live in streamlined format with its own camera and journalist staff.
In the long term vision, there is the specific goal to acquire a land to build in Toronto the FUTSALCA National Futsal Centre. Formal talks in that regards have already being started and we are looking for community, corporate and media partnership to make it a reality.
